Student Study Team
Q – What is a Student Study Team – SST?
A – The Student Study Team is an intervention plan to explore and problem-solve in order to help and support students facing challenges in regular classes. The SST identifies strategies, interventions and programs that resolve or alleviate academic, attendance or behavioral difficulties that students are experiencing.
A student is referred for an SST meeting when teachers, counselors and/or parents have concerns about a student's classroom performance, such as behavior problems, attention issues, emotional concerns, academic progress, questions about potential learning disabilities, articulation and/or language problems.
As an education attorney, I can assist parents with the SST process by initiating the meeting with SST, reviewing and collecting all relevant information to prepare for the meeting and attend the meeting to discuss and facilitate an action plan of intervention.
